For the last stop on their “Tour of Earth”, British indie-rock band Glass Animals stopped through Tampa, Florida for a fun-filled unforgettable night. The four-piece band were joined by opener Sofia Isella for the ten-date East coast run of the tour; although fans in the Midwest can expect to see the band soon, the second leg of the tour coming up in early August.

During the show, the band noted that they don’t tour often so they wanted to make sure each date was special, and the Tampa crowd definitely felt special, especially because it was also the final day of the first leg, and the band made sure the audience could feel their appreciation.

To get the crowd ready for Glass Animals, alternative artist Sofia Isella took the stage. Despite being an opener for the show, Isella had quite a few fans on barricade singing along with her, even holding a sign up for her which resulted in the fan getting the Listen to Sofia Isella shirt off of her back; literally. Isella’s unique sound had fans dialed in, nodding along even if they didn’t know the words, though her entire set. Once she left the stage, fans began to get ready for Glass Animals to take stage, more and more of the seats filling up as the time for the band to take stage approached.

After what probably felt like an eternity to fans, the stage was finally set for Glass Animals to come out; space-themed platforms and even a space-themed intro kept with their “Tour of Earth” theme. After a comical and fun intro, the band finally arrived, opening with “Life Itself” from their second studio album. Fans were immediately singing and dancing along, the band lighting up the packed amphitheater. The band continued their set with a good mix of older, fan favorites such as “Your Love (Deja Vu) while also incorporating tracks from their newest album “I Love You So F***ing Much” like “Wonderful Nothing”, fans singing louder and louder as each track passed; regardless of when it was from. It was clear that Tampa had been waiting for another Glass Animals show, and the crowd didn’t shy away from making sure the band knew they were having a great night.

About halfway through their set, lead singer Dave Bayley made his way into the crowd for “The Other Side of Paradise”, performing the song from a table that was set up back in section 15, giving even the further back fans an opportunity to be up close with the singer. Once he made his way back to the stage, they four-piece continued their set and Tampa kept their energy up all the way until what they were told was the last song, “Pork Soda”. After watching the band disappear, the crowd began various chants and cheering until the band returned to finish off the night with encore songs “Tokyo Drifting” and crowd favorite “Heat Waves.” The band made sure to stop multiple times throughout the night to make sure their appreciation for the crowd was known, and eventually the last show of their “Tour of Earth” came to an end. Although they’ll be back soon, it wouldn’t be of any shock if Florid fans were left hoping the band will come back as soon as possible.
