On Friday, November 1st, 2024, MisterWives performed at Union Transfer in Philadelphia on the “Just For One Night” Tour. Despite lead singer Mandy Lee being in the midst of fighting off a nasty cold, the five-piece band put on an unforgettable show.
Moody Joody kicked off the evening with an impressive set, lamenting that it was their last stop on the tour. The Nashville-based trio shared that their debut EP would be released just a week later on November 8th. Their set list showcased a few songs from said EP, including “Cuts Deep,” “Velvet Connection,” and title track “Dream Girl.”

Halfway through the final song of their set, something unexpected happened: the fire alarm started sounding in the venue. Moody Joody’s sound was entirely cut off, but the band continued to perform as passionately as they were when their sound was on. Luckily, for safety reasons, it was a false alarm.
After the fire alarm fiasco concluded, Arkansas-based duo Joan took the stage. Their ten-song set included classics such as “tokyo” and “love somebody like you,” and new hits including “superglue” and “heartbodymindsoul.” Their personality shined through the set, with lead singer Alan Benjamin telling the crowd that he just received breaking news: “Philly is slay!”

Headliners MisterWives opened their set with “Organized Chaos,” an energetic track that certainly succeeded in setting the tone for the evening and engaging the crowd. Throughout the evening, the amount of love and dedication that their fans have for them became evident. Some fans near the front of the crowd were celebrating their 27th MisterWives show, to which lead singer Mandy Lee was very appreciative. Many proudly held up signs thanking the band for an unforgettable ten years of memories.
MisterWives’ set included impressive saxophone solos, fun choreography, entrancing set design, and beautiful lights. Lee put on an incredible performance and hit every note, even though she was battling a cold that was making it difficult for her to sing. She thanked the audience over and over again for bringing the volume and enthusiasm that she needed to get through the night, and thanked Philly specifically because she knows the city’s fans always bring the energy to their shows.

MisterWives have been releasing music since 2014 and have deservingly amassed a large fanbase. Their most popular song, “Reflections,” was released that year and quickly became a major hit. Since then, the band has been touring and performing both on their own headline tours and as opening acts for other big names in the scene, including Twenty One Pilots and Paramore.
The band shared with the crowd that this would be their last tour for some time. Ten years of actively producing music and performing live shows takes a toll on musicians, and MisterWives expressed that even though they’re taking a break after this tour comes to an end, they are nothing but grateful for the love and support they have been shown. They made it clear that they would not have been able to live out their dreams if it weren’t for the fans being their driving force.

MisterWives’ “Just For One Night” Tour is wrapping up in St. Petersburg, FL on November 8th. The band is joining Andrew McMahon on the “Holiday From Real Cruise” from November 9th to the 13th, which will be their last hoorah (for now). The impact they have made on the alternative music scene will truly never be forgotten.
