SINGLE REVIEW & LOCAL SPOTLIGHT: South FL Band Colder Quicker release first ever single "Can We Get High".

Colder Quicker is a recently formed South Florida based band who just released their first ever single “Can We Get High” today , June 10th following their first ever show at The Banyan live on the 9th. Though all you can get from Colder Quicker is “Can We Get High” right now, the band frequently posts covers on their social media platforms and it was shared with us that their very first EP is just around the corner with a release month of August 2026. In addition to the upcoming EP, the trio also shared with us that you should be on the look out for Florida show dates for shows outside of just South Florida, also in August 2026. 

At their single release show just yesterday on the 9th, Colder Quicker of course played “Can We Get High” but also treated the crowd to unreleased songs from their upcoming EP, and a few covers including a cover of “Acolyte” by Slaughter Beach Dog and even a cover of “Unapologetic” from members Ben Schor and Franco Perrella’s previous band Curly Q, who was our first ever local band interview. The crowd at The Banyan Live may have gotten to hear their new single before anyone else did, but now the song is live on all music streaming platforms and we were able to talk to Ben, who wrote Can We Get High for the band, about the meaning of the song and where their inspiration came from.

Upon first listening to the track, it was clear that Colder Quicker certainly picked an incredible track to be their first ever single and it only left us wondering how good the rest of the music they’re waiting to release must be. Can We Can High is a melodic, quick paced track with a sound that’s the perfect fusion between emo and pop-punk, though if you prefer songs heavy on the emo genre, this will definitely be for you. When talking with lead singer Ben about the song, he shared that Can We Get High is about a toxic, drug-fueled, codependent relationship that exists in a constant, revolved circle of chaos. 

" You are a spinning record, You fall, you shatter, and you cut me so deeply. "

As the song progresses, you can hear the emotion build as you’re walked though the progression of feeling like you’re in love with someone, but knowing the love you share with them may not even be real, and inevitably ending up going back to that person regardless. Deep and realistic lyrics take you through the ups and downs of this kind of relationship until the very end , when the song’s title is finally shared, followed by the song’s final lyric of “you’ll show me what it feels like  — to die.” Though powerful story telling, Can We Get High is not only a perfect pop-punk emo track for your (possibly sad) playlists, but also the type of song that sucks you into the story of it all with deep lyrical expertise. On top of its lyrical depth, the sound also features incredible vocal tracks and impressive instrumental tracks, which just wraps it all together as an incredibly solid track, especially for the band’s very first release. It’s evident in Can We Get High that Colder Quicker will certainly not disappoint with future releases.
