On Friday the 13th, Ren and Lily set out together to spend some time with Florida local band Curly Q (@curlyqtheband) at the Hooch and Hive for the band's first Tampa show. The evening started with a portrait session with Ren and led to Lily doing a very serious interview with the 5-piece band before the show. We talked to Curly Q about some of their favorite Florida bands, their music plans for the future, and other topics, and a lot of laughter that perfectly fit the vibe of the band.

Welcome to Chord Clicks. Can you introduce yourself and tell us what you do in the

band?

Xavier Guevara: Hi, I am Xavier. I play guitar.

Ben Schor: Hi, My name is Ben and I sing.

Can you tell us a little about the band?

BS: We are a rock band from Tallahassee, FL

All: [Laughing] We are the heaviest rock band!

JV: We are more like a little pop-punk and losercore

BS: Little emo, little pop punk. We are a band you can rock out to and also cry to as well

All fighting to speak over each other:

I read that

That was pretty good

You can rock out

You can mosh

You can make sweet love

[Laughing]

That’s a good point

Can you make hot love?

Continuing to speak over each: That has to be in the thing. That has to be in there. Leave

that in. Put it in, Put it in.

Someone doing an impression: Well these guys think they’re so cool. You can fuck to their

music.

[Everyone erupts in laughter]

You guys recently released Cherry Earrings, are you planning on releasing new music

anytime soon?

BS: Short answer, yes. We are in the first baby steps of rough drafting some new tunes. So there will be new Curly Q music in 2025.

Various: You can count on it.

GN: Curly 2025

BS: Stream Curly Q. Follow us on Instagram and YouTube @curlyqtheband

The very serious interview was followed by a set that opened up for three other Florida locals, a small Florida tour they did in which the Tampa date had previously gotten canceled due to inclement weather. It was clear that all of the acts were supportive of each other, and Curly Q put on an energetic and fun show. You find Curly Q on Instagram and YouTube at @curlyqtheband. Thank you to Curly Q for having us out to this fun show.
