On Wednesday, March 26th °1824 hosted an in-depth and expressive press conference with Verve Records' The Head and the Heart. This press conference gave different outlets the chance to ask the band some questions about their upcoming album Aperture and get a chance to dive a little deeper into the band’s work before its set release date of May 9th. Aperture is the band’s sixth studio album and you can tell by the way the six-piece speaks about the record that it’s an incredibly important, deep, vulnerable, and emotional album for them.
Starting the conversation off, members of The Head and the Heart shared a little bit about what the album name means, and you could immediately feel the energy of the band seeping through the call. Each member spoke beautifully about the meaning of the album, sharing that Aperture refers to letting life back into your life and opening up and allowing more things in. As the conference continued, the band shared a lot of different perspectives of the record including sharing the song they’re most excited to play live, feeling proud of the album as a band, and even explaining that the band attends semi-regular band-therapy to help them become closer as a band and understand each other better.
A big topic of conversation of the conference revolved around the band coming back together after not having a record produce since pre-covid to make Aperture. The band shared that they started from scratch in a room together and that the spontaneous creation was different for them as a band. As the press conference continued, you could feel that love and connection that the members have, each of them beautifully adding to each others thoughts and continuing the conversation in a way that gave the attendees an opportunity to feel very connected to The Head and the Heart and their upcoming work.

When asked our question about a favorite part of any song that they've written for the album, the band shared a warm eagerness for the question and took turns sharing their different thoughts on different parts that they've contributed to the songs, or that other members have including vocals from members that haven't provided main vocals before. Some other moments included shouting out tracks Cop Cars and West Coast and sharing that everyone's individual elements on the album really made that body of work what it is. Another part that they shared in answer to our question was Charity's role in helping direct some decisions that helped the album become what it is; other members of the band sharing that the experience was magical.
One of the best parts of the conference was watching and listening to the band play off of each other and build incredibly deeply on each question. The band created a very warm and welcoming air, and clearly work off of each others energy. You can check out After the Setting Sun, Time With My Sins, and Arrow from the album now and full tracks including Jubilee, Cop Car, and title track Aperture on May 9th.
Thank you to °1824 for inviting us and to The Head and the Heart for sharing such deep, meaningful, and insightful answers and information on the upcoming album.
