This is it. The day every “elder emo” has waited for.

Okay, so maybe not The Day, but it's still an exciting one!

The dark and gloomy world of My Chemical Romance fans all across the globe has been lit up by the shining beacon that is the announcement of a new-old album. Arguably one of their most important albums! While The Black Parade launched MCR into the stratosphere with its release in October of 2006, we would be remiss to forget the way that Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge pushed them forward to begin with.

Forming in 2001, My Chem crawled their way across bars and basements with their debut album I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love. The album garnered a somewhat cult-like following through the scene of punk and hardcore spaces, guiding the band towards the legendary Warner Music Group in 2003.

As the five-piece band made their way around America, they amassed a following that led them into studios with names like Howard Benson, Rich Costey, Mike Plontikoff, Paul Decarlli, and Eric Miller. And thus, the one and only Three Cheers was born. The date was June 8, 2004. The record was met with absolute rapture from fans who clambered their way into Hot Topics and Borders all across the US, and thousands of other chains and locally owned businesses alike all over the globe. But most importantly, we were all met with a cinematic masterpiece.

I’m Not Okay (I Promise).

One of three music videos shot with director Mark Webb, and the band’s first official single with a major record label.

As Gerard Way said himself on their 2022 US tour: the greatest summer jam of all time!

Now, having just passed the 20th anniversary of the release of Three Cheers (don’t worry, we’re all making our way to the retirement home as you’re reading this), My Chem fans have been blasted back to back with exciting news.

Slated to release June 6, 2025 we are being treated to a remastered album in full, as well as four live recordings from the band’s time at BBC Radio in 2005. Along with the re-release, the fandom has found itself in elated chaos over the upgrade of the original music video to stunning 4K resolution.

Yes, with another US tour starting on the 11th of July in Seattle, Washington- 2025 is turning out to be quite the year for those of us who have followed the band through the years, and those of us who have found ourselves drawn in only recently.

What do you think? Are you the type to buy every single vinyl variant being released? Have you donned your blackest clothing and re-trimmed your side bangs? What songs are you most excited to listen to in all of their remastered Hi-Res Lossless audio glory? Are you ready to take to the streets with your old cassette tape/scratchy CD hybrid boom boxes?

With a million and one different ways to celebrate, and many netizens already putting in the work to do so, there is absolutely no denying the proverbial sparks flying through the scene.

What other wonders will 2025 unearth?!
