As we continue to “slide into October” (thank you Knuckle Puck for that) these last two weeks proved to be great for music. We have a variety of new albums, eps, and singles that have dropped recently. If you were looking for our best picks for the weeks of 10/06/-10/12 and 10/13-10/19, this is the place.
One of the best up and coming emo bands Ben Quad released Ephemera the title track and last single of their EP which is out on 10/25. It follows two other singles You’ll Get Nothing and Like It and Your Face as an Effigy. They also released their cover of Cinco De Mayo Shitshow with Chris Freeman of Hot Mulligan on 10/17. We can’t wait for the rest of this EP and to catch them on tour with Microwave this fall.
Orlando, FL based band Mirror Parts released their first single since April entitled Can’t Get Enough on. As we discussed last week, we are always looking for more great Florida bands and this for sure is one of them. They proved that the Orlando indie scene is alive and well with this new single.
Sludge-metal band Chat Pile released their sophomore album Cool World. The band previously gave us three singles from this release and will be on tour starting this November.
We are finally getting a new album from post-hardcore outfit Touché Amoré. The band released their first album since 2020 entitled Spiral in a Straight Line. This marks the group’s fifth album.
Brat summer continues in Brat fall with the release of Charli XCX’s remix album brat and it’s completely different but also still brat. The record features artists like The 1975, Troye Sivan, and Julian Casablancas. Considering the popularity of the original we are sure the hype is going to continue.
Real Friends released their first full length album, Blue Hour, since Cody Muraro joined the group in 2020. It has been a question of when the band was going to release a full record with their new front man, making this a highly anticipated album. At the time of writing this, the album is not out yet but the singles and previous EPs have shown us that this is going to be an amazing album.
Lead singer of post-hardcore band Citizen, Mat Kerekes, released his 5th solo album entitled To Dream of Something Wicked and announced a headline tour featuring support from Equipment and Bike Routes.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of American Football’s self-titled debut album the band are dropping a covers compilation. The record features artists like Ethel Cain, Manchester Orchestra, and Iron & Wine.
Daisy Grenade released a new single titled How to Hide a Body. This is the fourth single they have dropped this year, most recently being their cover of the Nirvana song Polly.
